Community Sport

The Denbighshire’s Sports Development team will take the lead initiative, working with key partners, to achieve the County's 'vision for Sport' and Service business plan.

Young Ambassadors

Our young ambassador programme helps to develop young leaders and encourage people to take part in sport. They are selected due to their sporting talent, showing commitment or skills as young leaders or volunteers in sport.

Duke of Edinburgh

A rewarding and challenging programme of activities for young people aged 13-14 years, including sports, expeditions, volunteering and gaining new skills.

5x60

The 5x60 programme gives secondary school pupils the opportunity to say which sports they would like to take part in, whether it's dodgeball, cheerleading, netball or another activity. 5x60 officers speak to pupils to find out which activities they are interested in and, if possible, arrange a timetable to give the pupils’ the opportunity to take part in the activity they have chosen.

Dragon Sports

The Dragon spots scheme focuses on introducing children from 7-11 years old into athletics, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby, golf, and tennis.

Disability Sports

There are clubs offering a variety of sporting activities for disabled people, ranging from Swimming and Trampolining to Wheelchair Basketball.

Community Chest

The scheme is open to any group that wishes to organise activities aimed at getting more people, more active, more often. This could mean new activities or raising the standard of existing activities.

Community Arts

Denbighshire Arts Service works to promote, support and develop arts activity in the county’s communities. Community Arts provides opportunities for everyone to participate in the arts regardless of experience, age or background.

Integrated Children's Centres

Support for children and families provides diagnostic and follow-up services for children of pre-school age with emerging disabilities or developmental problems.

Family Information Service

Denbighshire Family Information Service (FIS) offers free impartial advice, information and guidance for children, young people, families and professionals throughout the country.

Exercise Referral

The WINNERS Exercise Referral scheme is part of the National Exercise Referral Scheme for Wales and is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. It is designed to help people who are inactive or who have medical problems increase their activity level.
