DLL are excited to announce that Jason Mohammad, star of BBC One’s Final Score, will be presenting the 2024 DLL Active Communities’ Awards.

These prestigious awards honour members of the community who have made a difference or achieved something special in sport, activity or arts and culture within the last year.

The 2024 ceremony takes place on the 13th November and will be held once again at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre.


Award Categories

Volunteer of the Year

An individual or group of volunteers, of any age, who has contributed to the community of Denbighshire within a sporting or cultural environment. This person or group will have demonstrated commitment to an unpaid activity.

 Primary School of the Year

A Denbighshire school that puts being active, sporting opportunities and/or creative arts activities at the heart of the school and community and who recognises the contribution these activities have in promoting positive wellbeing.

Secondary School of the Year

A Denbighshire school that puts being active, sporting opportunities and/or creative arts activities at the heart of the school and community and who recognises the contribution these activities have in promoting positive wellbeing.

Sport Coach of the Year

A Denbighshire coach of any age who has demonstrated outstanding coaching skills and contributed to sporting opportunities and/or success from grassroots to excellence.

Sport Club of the Year

A Community Club in Denbighshire that has demonstrated excellence in management, development and competition throughout the club.

Team of the Year

This award is for a team who has shown great determination and commitment as a team during the past year. This could be an established or new team in any sport or activity. They do not need to have won any sporting events but demonstrate good values and community commitment.

Best Arts for Wellbeing Project

Any Denbighshire project delivered in a community, health, social care, or school setting that successfully supported the health and wellbeing of the participants using creative tools such as art, music, drama, dance or creative writing.

Best Community Creative Project

Any Denbighshire project delivered to support community cohesion through creative participation in any art form.

Young Inspiration

A young person aged 25 or younger (on the 1st November 2024) who has contributed locally through a school, community or club to develop sporting or cultural opportunities or who has through their own performance achieved their goals

Excellence Award

Award to recognise a person living in Denbighshire, who has exhibited the highest level of skill, performance, dedication and commitment to their sport or art form during August 2023 – July 2024

Lifetime Achievement

An individual that has dramatically improved the sporting or cultural environment within Denbighshire for a sustained period of 15 years or more.

Call for Artists

DLL wishes to commission a professional or emerging artist to create twelve awards which will be presented to the category winners.

An all-inclusive fee of £3,000 inc VAT will be paid for this commission. The fee will cover all design, materials, production, packaging and transportation costs.
