Continuing to exercise as we get older, is vitally important.
Regular activity can lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, some cancers, depression and dementia.
Being active –
Suitable activities could include walking, swimming, low impact fitness classes, a personalised gym programme, walking football, yoga and Pilates.

As we are currently spending more time at home, we have developed a few resources that will keep you active in your home.
Our National Exercise Referral (NERS) Instructors have put together low impact videos that will help you start to move more from the comfort of your own home.

Armchair Exercises are another great activity that you can do at home, using items found in your house. Armchair exercises can improve circulation which can result faster healing of injuries and illnesses, greater lung capacity and greater mobility around the joints.
As part of the Welsh Government’s Healthy Weight Healthy Wales (HWHW) Action Plan 2020-2022, Sport Wales is responsible for investing £1.3million over the next 15 months into a national leisure offer for over 60s which will encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices. This is a targeted approach to reduce health inequalities and social isolation.
