Denbighshire Leisure Ltd Swimming Pools Swimming Admission Policy

Our Leisure Centres have in place a policy regarding the admission of customers to our swimming pools.

We have this policy so that everyone can use our facilities in a safe, enjoyable environment.

  1. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied into the water/ activity by a responsible adult (over 16) except when the children are participating in appropriate centre organised sessions/ activities.
    a. This means that they can have in their care, in the water up to three children aged between 4 and 7 or two children under the age of eight, where one or both may be under the age of 4.
  2. Unfortunately, we cannot admit anyone under the age of eight unless a responsible adult accompanies them into the pool.
  3. All non-swimmers are advised to wear approved swimming aids such as armbands and are requested to remain in the learner pool. The learner pool is restricted to non swimmers and thier parents/ guardians during public sessions.
  4. As a courtesy if any group or organisation is planning to bring along more than fifteen children at any one time, we would appreciate prior notice.
  5. Normal swimwear must be worn at all times i.e. no jeans, t-shirts or below knee shorts to be worn. Masks and flippers are not allowed in the pool during public sessions.
  6. In the interests of hygiene and to improve water quality, we request that all customers shower prior to entering the pool. 

  7.  Do not enter the pool if you feel unwell. Please contact the centre and we will endeavour to re arrange the session.

  8. The facilities must not be used for coaching / instructing (whether paid or unpaid) without prior approval from the Centre Management. 

  9. All swimmers who wear nappies or protective underwear should wear Swim Nappies underneath their swim suit or a special purpose swimming costume. Swim Nappies for babies and infants can be purchased at reception. 

  10. We would be grateful if you could inform us if you have any illness or disability that may affect your ability to swim during your visit.
  11. Whenever possible children over 7 should be encouraged to change in their designated male/ femal changing area as appropriate.
  12. In the interests of safety, we cannot allow anyone into the pool if we believe they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  13. The facilities must not be used for coaching/ instructing (whether paid or unpaid) without prior approval from the Centre Management.
  14. The use of any equipment capable of recording still or moving images is strictly prohibited without the prior permission from the Centre Management.
  15. Smoking is prohibited within the building or its immediate vicinity.

The Management reserves the right to refuse admission, or expel persons if their condition or conduct may cause a risk of safety and enjoyment of others.

Denbighshire Leisure Ltd Parent & Toddler Swimming Pool Admission Policy & Useful hints for Parents

This information is aimed at giving Parents and their toddlers some useful hints to make swimming a pleasurable experience.

The Leisure Centres have in place a policy regarding the admission for Parent & Toddler swimming sessions, in accordance with the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) guidelines. We have this policy so that everyone can use our facilities in a safe, enjoyable environment.

  1. The best age for children to start water activities is around 4-6 months after they have had their immunisations. This is not a condition of entry but is recommended.
  2. Toddlers up to the age of 3 years will be admitted to the Parent & Toddler sessions. At this age we recommend enrolling onto the Leisure Centre’s Swimming Lesson programme.
  3. Prior to the session give your toddle a light snack 15-30 minutes before the visit.
  4. Arrive in plenty of time so that you are not rushing and can stay relaxed.
  5. Bring a familiar bath toy with you, this will help put your toddler at ease.
  6. Ensure you have a costume for both you and your toddler! You will also need sufficient towels for the both of you.
  7. Please ensure your toddler is wear a disposable swim nappy, which are sold in most supermarkets – these are also available to purchase from Reception.
  8. Have a positive attitude and enjoy the experience. Remember, you are giving your toddler the opportunity to learn a life skill.
