Training and Career Development
Denbighshire Leisure is committed to supporting your professional development, and helping you to build a rewarding career. We invest in our staff and their futures, and on this page, you’ll see a variety of ways you can access training and development opportunities.
You can always talk to your manager about any development you would like to explore.
Talent LMS
The Talent LMS platform is where you will find our e-learning modules. We have 8 courses that are mandatory for all staff to complete by their 3 months’ probationary review.
You can find the courses by following this link: https://denbighshireleisure.talentlms.com/index
Alternatively, you can download the Talent LMS App on your android or apple smart phone and complete them that way.
As a Company, we are always developing and growing, and so these modules may change. It’s also good practice to have a refresher on the content of these modules from time to time, as they’re all important topics. Because of this, we ask staff to complete these modules every 3 years, to make sure they’re up to date.
Face to Face Training
Many roles within Denbighshire Leisure Ltd require specific training, such as a Food Hygiene Certificate, or the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. We have experienced trainers in-house who deliver these courses to staff. Take a look on this site, to search through our available courses, and to book on here:

Your manager will let you know if you need to undertake any specific training courses, but you can also browse through our training to see if there’s any that you feel would develop your career with Denbighshire Leisure Ltd. Please make sure you have your manager’s permission before booking onto any courses.
Career Pathways
We like to equip our staff with the skills and tools needed to progress their career with Denbighshire Leisure Ltd. This means, for some roles where possible, we may create a Career Pathway. These provide a training plan to enable someone to develop the skills, knowledge, and possibly also qualifications, needed to step up into a job role.
We will use these where we have a vacancy and are able to accommodate someone learning and developing into the role, rather than needing someone to hit the ground running.
The requirements of the Career Pathway will be set out clearly on the training plan, and you’ll be paid the relevant salary for the stage of the training plan you are at. On this training plan, you would progress in salary as you develop, until you’re fully equipped and confident in the final job role.
COPA training partner
We work closely with COPA to support staff development. They offer a range of professional work-based learning qualifications for those within the leisure, fitness and hospitality sectors, as well as short training courses. You can find their full list of qualifications here – https://copatraining.co.uk/
Take a look at their courses to see if there’s any that you feel would benefit your career with us. You can discuss this with your manager in your next Your Time conversation.
Coaching and Mentoring
We have qualified Coaches and Mentors available within DLL.
Coaching is when you are guided to find your own solutions that work for you and is usually short term e.g. a few months. This is typically used when someone is looking to reach specific goals in life, such as building confidence, getting better with timekeeping etc.
Mentoring is longer term, and is when someone experienced provides guidance, shares their experiences, and imparts their wisdom to someone less experienced. This is typically used when someone becomes a manager for the first time, or has aspirations to become a senior manager.
Both Coaching and Mentoring provide the space and time to think, reflect, and focus on yourself and your goals.
You can contact the People Team via People@denbighshireleisure.co.uk to request coaching or mentoring.
