DLL and Rhyl Town Council kick off the festive season with two free family events
The Rhyl Christmas Light Switch on and the fee Christmas Pops concert, organised and ran by Denbighshire Leisure (DLL) and Rhyl Town Council, kick started the festive season last weekend!
The Rhyl town Christmas light switch on, on Saturday 22nd, and the Christmas Pops concert on Sunday 23rd, drew crowds to Rhyl town centre and the Christmas Pops atmosphere was electric, creating a fantastic start to the Christmas season for the community.
The Saturday afternoon switch-on event offered an incredible lineup of free entertainment for all ages. Highlights included excellent musical performances from the Rhyl Youth Marching Band, the Bethan Jones Singing Tuition Choir, the Glowbot Sparkle entertained crowds and there was free face painting, Music from DJ Paul, family magic from Mr Magico and the giant snow globe to keep the littles ones entertained.
The main moment arrived when the Christmas lights were officially switched on by the stars of this year’s Rhyl Pavilion Theatre Panto, Sleeping Beauty, who were joined on stage by the Rhyl Town Mayor, Councillor Alexander Walker. Event-goers also had the special opportunity to meet the panto cast up close and personal.
The festive spirit continued on Sunday with the free Annual Christmas Pops Concert at the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre. The concert was a huge success, featuring incredible performances from Welsh of the West End, the talented ventriloquist Jamie Leahey, and the hilarious and skilled musical act Graffiti Classics. Feedback from the audience was fantastic, confirming the event as a perfect kick-start to the Christmas festivities.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director of DLL said: “We are thrilled with the turnout and the fantastic success of this year’s Festive Weekend.
