The arts and sporting achievements of the Denbighshire community were celebrated on Wednesday 22nd November at the first DLL Active Communities’ Awards at the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre

These prestigious awards honoured members of the community who have made a difference or achieved something special in sport, activity or arts and culture within the last year.

Over 450 guests, including residents, partners and local businesses, attended this major event at the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, alongside all nominees and their families, organised by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL).

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: “The DLL Active Communities’ awards is a fantastic event that helps recognise and celebrate the success of individuals, teams, clubs and schools within Denbighshire. We’re thrilled to have brought this event to Rhyl Pavilion theatre, and it was an honour to host this prestigious event at one of our flagship facilities 1891 restaurant and bar this year. The DLL team went above and beyond to put this event together and it was incredible to see so many talented people in one room. We are very lucky in Denbighshire to have so much talent and the judging panel really had their work cut out for them this year.”

The event honoured twelve categories including individuals, groups, teams, schools and clubs that have made a difference or achieved something in sport or activity, arts and culture in Denbighshire. A list of winners and categories from the evening:

Lifetime Achievement – Leah Owen

Volunteer of the Year – Carla Hargraves

Young Inspiration – Hanna Tudor

Best Arts in Health Project – Well-being with Art (English as an Additional Language Service)

Excellence Adult – Ceri Roberts

Primary School of the Year – Ysgol Twm o’r Nant

Excellence Young Person – Olivia Schrimshaw

Secondary School of the Year – Prestatyn High School

Best Community Creative Project – STAND NW CIC

Active Workplace of the Year – Ysgol Llywelyn

Sports Coach of the Year – Gerwyn Jones

Sport Club of the Year –  Denbigh Town FC
