This follows the success of the DLL Finance team who also received a highly commended award at the Wales Finance Awards ceremony earlier this year. It’s always a pleasure to see our team receive the recognition they deserve for their hard work and dedication. The continued success of our teams proves that DLL is leading the industry in all areas of the business.

The first iteration of DLL Bootcamp ended with a bang this week, after a two day intensive finale from Ruthin to Prestatyn.

Fitness fanatics joined together to take on the third stage of DLL’s challenge, Bootcamp Extreme, calling it ‘the best bootcamp around’ and ‘exceptional from start to finish’.

Bootcamp Xtreme started on the Saturday at Nova, kicking things off with a stretcher walk up Meliden mountain, followed by beach bootcamp, pilates at Club Nova, Healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks at Beach Hut and the day ended with a game of rounders!

A stretcher walk up Moel Famau started the day on Sunday, followed by a Café R lunch, then onto Rhyl for protein shakes from 1891, Yoga at Club Rhyl and finishing the day with a bang with bootcamp outside at Club Rhyl.

An awards ceremony on Monday night presented the Bootcamp participants with certificates, personalised hoodies, medals and also food and drink at 1891. Following this, world-class nutritionist Dr Colin Robertson gave the group a seminar covering fitness and nutrition.

World renowned nutritionist and Ted Talk speaker, presents nutrition seminar at 1891 at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre.

DLL was proud to welcome highly respected nutritionist, Dr Colin Robertson to 1891 restaurant this week to bust myths on nutrition and fitness goals.

The talk at 1891 at the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre centred around the role of nutrition in achieving your health & fitness goals, weight loss, strength and muscle gains, family health. He also covered processed and ultra-processed foods, how the food industry have engineered a shift in poor nutritional habits since the 1950’s; the part nutrition plays in female health, in particular hormone health; unlocking the fact behind the fiction when it comes to nutrition and myth-busting common nutrition facts.

Dr Colin Robertson is a renowned and prominent Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Strength &Conditioning Coach, Nutritionist, Clinical Researcher, with a wealth of knowledge and experience of working with elite teams and individuals across the Globe.  Colin featured in his very own Ted Talk, The Eternal Suffering of the Endurance Mind in 2016.

Colin said: “Nutrition plays a big part in our overall physical and mental health and wellbeing, and this talk will no doubt provide valuable insight to help you be at your best. I’ve not been to Rhyl for a long time and I pulled up outside Rhyl Pavilion and I was blown away, it’s an incredible, state of the art venue with a sumptuous view of the North Wales Coast! I’m so pleased to be speaking here with DLL members and customers, it’s fantastic to see so many people interested in being the best version of themselves!”

Colin’s particular passion is extreme sports and in particular ultra-distance events. Colin has supported and coached athletes from several disciplines, from premiership football, rugby, professional cycling, martial arts, Everest expeditions and Marathon des Sables, to name a few.

Rhyl Leisure is all set for the fitness offer becoming the new Club Rhyl, in another series of investments by DLL, looking to provide their customers with the best leisure and fitness facilities in the country.

DLL are once again bucking the trend nationally, with the creation of Club Rhyl delivering one of the most innovative and exciting fitness clubs in the country.

Following the success of Club Nova, Club Denbigh and X20 St Asaph, the first stages of the transformation at Rhyl Leisure will see a new access created on the ground floor; and an exclusive ‘Refuel station’ within the gym area, offering Costa, and a selection of nutritional shakes and snacks, exclusively to our fitness members.

This will be followed by a complete renovation of the studio at Club Rhyl, revolutionising the class programme for our members. The product on the way – will be the first of its kind in the UK and will take the DLL class programme to another level, trail blazing new ideas in true DLL style.

As a sector leading leisure operator, DLL is continually investing in its fitness facilities with a view to delivering the very best experiences for its customers. The project will take place in various phases to minimise disruption over the remainder of 2023 and be completed in 2024.

The first Ibiza style parties of the season kick-started the summer celebrations for DLL, with hundreds of people soaking up the atmosphere in North Wales’ best beer gardens.

Festival style dancers, delicious cocktails and Ibiza style DJ, ice-cream factory, loads of free goodies for families to enjoy and even fire breathers, confirmed both Beach Hut Nova and the Terrace at 1891 Rhyl, as the places for staycation celebrations in Denbighshire.

The team is now gearing up for the next parties of the season, with extra surprises and goodies planned, with acoustic nights starting from 30th June  at Beach Hut Nova, followed by the second Ibiza-style party on Saturday, 22nd July  with a summer vibes Ibiza party on 29th July at the 1891 terrace.

Following the success of ‘Seaside Soul’ in 2019, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd are excited to announce the return of another fabulous, summer, soul themed concert at Rhyl Events Arena. 

A free event for the community, organised by DLL in partnership with Rhyl Town Council, will celebrate music of the 70s, motown and northern soul.

Summer Soul, which takes places on Sunday 30th July from 12pm onwards, boasts a fantastic line-up with live entertainment from Northern Soul Live featuring Stefan Taylor and Lorraine Silver; popular 70’s band Heatwave; Edwin Starr band featuring Angelo Starr; Northern Soul DJs and Jackie Marie motown tribute.

Joining the strong line up are popular funk/disco band, Heatwave, who came into international success in the mid-70s and 80s, known for the hits, “Boogie Nights,” “Always and Forever” and “The Groove Line.”

Brother of the late great Edwin Starr from the USA, Angelo Starr, will be presenting a Soul & Motown party.  Angelo has taken over lead vocals with Edwin Starr’s original band, which still performs with sax, keyboard, percussion,  lead guitar, bass guitar, drums and backing vocalists. With such an amazing line-up, this is an event not to be missed!

The Rhyl Air Show is back this summer with a spectacular line up, with the Strikemaster being announced for both days across the weekend.

The G-SOAF Strikemaster pair belongs to Strikemaster Flying Club (SFC) based at North Wales Military Aviation Services Ltd (NWMAS), Hawarden, North Wales.

The award winning air show is fast becoming North Wales’s biggest FREE seafront event and the 2023 show will feature spectacular aerial displays and land-based attractions and entertainment on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th August 2023.

Visitors to the Air Show will not be disappointed”.

The sequence the Strikemaster pair will fly is very dynamic and will show off the aircraft beautifully, with high energy aerobatics with graceful linking manoeuvres. Because the aircraft has a wide speed range it will be display tight to the crowd so the aircraft is always within easy viewing. Audiences will see this fly over 400mph, with lots of rolls, loops, barrel rolls, clovers and, fast and slow passes. The engine is a RR Viper 535 with 1000 pounds more thrust than the JP5 Viper engine. This extra thrust allowed the aircraft to carry the following armament: 2 x machine guns, up to 4 x 500 pound bombs or 32 Sura rockets or a mix.

The Red Arrows and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight has also  been confirmed for aerial displays across both days of the show in August.

This free first-class renowned event and the superb aerial line up and attractions announced that will be on display this year will be sure to thrill the large crowds of residents and visitors it attracts.  Rhyl will also gain from drawing in a vast number of tourists who can experience the regeneration attractions the town has to offer and provide important growth in our tourism economy. Be sure to make a note of this not to be missed brilliant weekend of entertainment.”

In support of Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs Monday 15th to Sunday 21 May 2023, DLL has been encouraging both customers and staff to take a little time to focus on their mental wellbeing. 

Many studies have shown that physical activity can help with mental health, and as well as their usual workouts in the gym or swimming pool, customers have been encouraged to try Tai Chi, yoga, and pilates classes. 

DLL are also encouraging customers to support “Wear It Green Day” on Thursday 18th May and have lit up Rhyl Sky Tower, Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, 1891 Restaurant and Bar, Promenade shelters and the Events Arena waterfall in green in support of Mental Health Awareness Week.

DLL have also taken the opportunity to remind staff of the right places to go for help in a crisis.  The company has a range of support systems in place for staff, including an Employee Assistance Programme which is available 24 hours per day, 365 days a year and is completely confidential. 

Jamie Groves, Managing Director said ‘At DLL, several of our staff are trained Mental Health First Aiders and are available to support other members of our team in a wellbeing crisis.  We encourage staff to seek advice on mental health, as they would any other illness.  We all know that some days can be harder than others, and we want the best for our team, which means offering support whenever they need it.’

DLL have been ‘highly commended’ at the prestigious Welsh Finance Awards this week.

At a glittering ceremony in Cardiff, DLL’s Finance Team were ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Small Finance Team of the Year’ category at the 2023 Finance Awards Wales.

The national Awards, held in City Hall, Cardiff on May 12^th were attended by leading figures from the finance industry, and celebrated the work of finance professionals and their contribution to the businesses they represent. 

The event showcased excellence in Finance from across Wales, and DLL were the only team from North Wales to be recognised within their category. 

The 2023 Awards received a record number of entries, and the Small Finance Team of the Year category was particularly competitive.
