A celebration of Welsh heritage at Café R with school choirs and exclusive Welsh menu specials this St David’s Day
DLL are proud to be celebrating St David’s Day with a host of themed activities at Café R at Ruthin Craft Centre.
Ysgol Pen Barras and Ysgol Stryd y Rhos pupils will be performing at Café R on Wednesday 1st March to mark the National day in Wales, St David’s day.
Local customers and parents of Ysgol Pen Barras and Ysgol Stryd y Rhos pupils are encouraged to come to Café R on Wednesday morning, 1st March to enjoy choral performances from Ysgol Pen Barras pupils at 10:30am and Ysgol Stryd y Rhos at 11am.

March 1st marks the death of St David, the patron saint of Wales’ in 589 AD and is celebrated annually as both a celebration of his life and of Welsh culture.
Café R will be open from 10am, and customers can enjoy a free welsh cake with every medium sized costa drink purchased alongside Café R’s full menu with the added Welsh specials including Minted Welsh lamb leek & potato pie in puff pastry with chips & mushy peas, Café R’s Welsh Steak Burger topped with Welsh Rarebit, Streaky Bacon, Chips & Slaw and for dessert Bara Brith Bread & Butter pudding with Custard.

Clubbercise launch in Denbigh and Llangollen brings a nightout to your workout with DLL
DLL is bringing a nightout to your workouts with the launch of new clubbercise classes at Denbigh and Llangollen.
These exciting new fitness classes are launching following a successful rollout of Clubbercise at Ruthin Leisure and Nova Prestatyn launched last year.

DLL are celebrating after being awarded 5 top class reviews for food hygiene
Five restaurants and cafes at DLL have been awarded the highest rating for their hygiene and standards.
1891 Restaurant and Bar at Rhyl Pavilion, The Rainforest Diner at SC2 Rhyl, Café R in Ruthin, Beach Hut at Nova Prestatyn and Café 21 at North Wales Bowls Centre have all been awarded 5 out of 5 stars.
The award comes after unannounced visits by Environmental Health who inspect the kitchens; food preparation and cooking; food hygiene systems and associated records.

Denbighshire Leisure Lights Buildings in Purple
Denbighshire Leisure is lighting buildings in purple in support of National Pancreatic Awareness month.
Rhyl Sky Tower, Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, 1891 Restaurant and Bar and the Events Arena waterfall will all be lit up in purple on Monday 28th November, to support the national awareness raising campaign for the disease.
Pancreatic cancer can be difficult to diagnose early and reports have shown that 80% of pancreatic cancer patients are not diagnosed until the cancer is at an advanced stage. Each year, November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month, when people are encouraged to raise the profile of this deadly disease and also join in fundraising events to support potential research breakthroughs.

Statistics have shown that only 8% of people can name the common symptoms, yet 1300 people are diagnosed globally every day. Denbighshire Lights Up for Carers
Denbighshire Leisure is lighting buildings this week in green and purple in support of Carers’ Rights Day.
Each year Carers’ Rights Day focuses on raising awareness of the needs of carers, on helping them be aware of their rights, and on letting them know how and where they can get help and support. Organisations across the UK come together on Carers’ Rights Day to help carers in their community whether they are new to caring, or have been caring for many years, and regardless of their setting.
Rhyl Sky Tower, Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, 1891 Restaurant and Bar and the Events Arena waterfall will all be lit up in green and purple on Thursday, 25th November in support of carers across the country.

TV and Panto Stars to switch on Rhyl Christmas lights this year
A feast of free entertainment confirmed for Rhyl’s Christmas Light Switch On, including 8ft Glowbot and firework display.
This year’s panto stars Jake Canuso, best known as the Spanish Waiter on ITV series Benidorm, and Richard Hawley, best known for his role as Johnny Connor in ITV’s Coronation Street, will be switching on the town’s Christmas lights on the High Street in Rhyl on Saturday 26th November between 1pm and 4pm.
Entertaining crowds and families will be an 8ft Glowbot, costumed cast members from this year’s Christmas panto production of Aladdin and balloon modelling before a short firework display to end the afternoon with a bang.
Also on stage entertaining the crowd between 1pm-4pm will be Britain’s Got Talent finalist Gruffydd Wyn, sublime mezzo soprano Sioned Terry, the captivating The Royal Serenity, talented Matty Roberts and popular band Chasing Shadows playing an acoustic set. With a variety of acts, both on stage and off stage, there’s something for everyone at this year’s Christmas Light Switch On.

Denbighshire Leisure lights up for annual Poppy Appeal
Over the next few weeks, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd will be lighting buildings in support of the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal.
Ruthin Craft Centre, Rhyl Sky Tower, Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, 1891 Restaurant and Bar and the Events Arena waterfall will all be lit in red as Poppy Appeal 2022 is launched.
The Royal British Legion is at the heart of a national network that supports our Armed Forces community, ensuring their unique contribution is never forgotten.
They are the country’s largest Armed Forces charity, with 180,000 members, 110,000 volunteers and a network of partners and charities; providing support wherever and whenever it’s needed. Every year the Poppy Appeal helps raise vital funds to help them continue to with their vital work; from providing expert advice to guidance on recovery and rehabilitation and much more.

Denbighshire Leisure to host two World Cup Fanzone Events
Denbighshire Leisure Ltd will be hosting two fanzone events at Rhyl Town Hall next month, as Wales begin their World Cup campaign in Qatar.
As the World Cup finals draw closer and excitement builds across the nation, many Wales fans won’t be able to make the 3000+ mile trip to enjoy their team’s first World Cup since 1958. So for those planning to watch at home this winter, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd are making sure fans don’t miss a minute of the action with two fanzone events taking place at Rhyl Town Hall.
With a 15ft TV screen, entertainment with DJ Owain Llyr, choir singing ‘Yma O Hyd’ before the match, bar and a range of 1891’s famous burgers and pizzas on sale, fans can enjoy the matches in style.
The fanzone events will take place on Monday 21st November – v USA and Tuesday 29th November – v England. Both matches kick off at 7pm and doors will open at 6pm. Admission will be £2 on the door.

Denbighshire Leisure supports Breast Cancer Awareness by lighting up in pink
Denbighshire Leisure will be lighting up buildings this October in support of Breast Cancer Now’s Wear it Pink Day.
Ruthin Craft Centre, Rhyl Sky Tower, Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, 1891 Restaurant and Bar and the Events Arena waterfall will all be illuminated in pink on October 21st to support this annual event.
Wear It Pink day has been taking place for over 20 years and has raised over £37 million pounds for life saving research into breast cancer. Every year around 2,600 people, including men and women, are diagnosed with breast cancer in Wales – which is approximately 7 people every day.
Every pound raised by Breast Cancer Now goes towards vital research which can help to prevent breast cancer, help to detect it earlier or help to ensure it is treated effectively at each stage.
Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, Jamie Groves said “Wear It Pink Day is one of the biggest annual fundraising events in the UK, and as a result Breast Cancer Now are able to continue working towards not only providing potentially life-saving research, but also making improvements to support and care, and access to information for those diagnosed with breast cancer, and their families.
