DLL to manage and provide a new grant funding opportunity for local community groups
DLL has received an exciting grant from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, to administer another Community Grants Scheme. The grant fits into the 25/26 Shared Prosperity Fund priority of Communities and Place, the theme of Healthy, Safe and Inclusive Communities, and the sub-theme of Healthy: Improve health and wellbeing.
By giving local clubs and organisations the opportunity to apply for capital funding to support the above themes means that there will be more activities taking place at better local facilities. The total amount available is £154,000
The objective of providing this community grant scheme is to support the strengthening of our social fabric and sense of local pride and belonging and will have both short term and longer-term benefits.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director of DLL, said: “ We are delighted to once again be able to support local clubs and organisations to provide funding to improve the health and wellbeing of Denbighshire residents. Our Community is one of the three pillars of our company, and helping maintain community participation and club infrastructure remains a priority for DLL. With this funding from the UK Government, and Denbighshire County Council, it will enable us to help sustain and support important third sector groups, sports and cultural organisations. Many clubs and organisations are run by volunteers for the benefit of the local community, and provide opportunities for people to come together, which we know has a positive impact on people’s mental health and wellbeing.”
Voluntary and community groups, Not-for-profit sports club or community organisation, Parish and Town Councils, Charities that are delivering local services and support (Includes uniformed groups) and Schools and educational establishments are eligible to apply.
To be eligible you must be able to demonstrate how the project will support one of the two following Shared Prosperity Funding interventions:
- Healthy, Safe and Inclusive Communities,
- Improve health and wellbeing
Capital grants of between £2,000 and £15,000 are available.
The funding round opens on Monday 30th June and closes Monday 28th July 2025. All capital funding is available to support sports clubs and organisations supporting arts and cultural activities.

SC2 waterpark opened its doors at the weekend for hundreds of people to ‘Splash into Summer’ and enjoy free taster sessions ahead of the official reopening
With the countdown to the reopening of SC2’s waterpark well and truly underway for 5th July, the DLL (Denbighshire Leisure Ltd) team at SC2 were delighted to welcome customers back to the waterpark, and to see the pool full of happy smiling faces once more!
DLL invited locals to enjoy a few hours at the waterpark for free as a ‘taster’ for what’s to come this summer, and as a thank you for their support during the time the waterpark was closed for repairs to the roof. Over 600 free tickets were snapped up online in less than thirty minutes, and the sessions were a huge success, with residents flooding in to enjoy the chance to have fun, and makes some memories with friends and family. The free event also included a session specifically for local homeless people, in support of charity Helping Homeless North Wales.
Online booking is already open, and the team at SC2 can’t wait to welcome everyone and are ready to open the doors this weekend for a summer filled with fun! There will also be a fabulous local loyalty discount available for local residents to use after 4pm every weekend and throughout the school summer holidays. The Ninja TAG arena and dinosaur themed Adventure Soft Play will also be open alongside the Adventure Play café with Costa coffee and Red Boat icecream being served throughout the site.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director at DLL, said: “Everyone at DLL is really excited to have the Waterpark back in action, and we can’t wait to reopen on Saturday! SC2 is our flagship attraction and it has been a tough time for everyone at DLL without the waterpark. The taster events were to show our gratitude to local community for their support and to give them a peek at the fantastic fun ahead this summer, it was brilliant to see so many people enjoying the waterpark again! Our team at SC2 is really excited to be welcoming everyone back and as promised we are bigger and better than before! As always, we want to give visitors and residents a summer of fun and happy memories at SC2, so book your visit today – we can’t wait to see you!”

DLL and local charity bringing free session for 200 homeless people at SC2 Rhyl Waterpark
DLL has offered local charity Helping Homeless North Wales 200 free tickets for an exclusive session at SC2 Waterpark at the end of June.
The tickets will be distributed to homeless people and families across three North Wales counties through the Community Group, giving them an evening of fun, relaxation and a chance to make some happy memories, at the popular attraction.
Helping Homeless North Wales, who work with homelessness organisations across North Wales including the Denbighshire Homelessness Prevention team, approached DLL to work together about a potential visit to SC2. The two organisations had previously worked together in 2023 on a similar event for homeless families from Rhyl. DLL jumped at the opportunity to help and offered 200 free tickets to the charity.
SC2’s waterpark is due to reopen on 5th July, following a period of closure due to storm damage to the roof, and DLL’s recent announcement of a weekend free taster sessions for local residents was so popular it sold out in under 30 minutes.
Richard Kendrick from Helping Homelessness North Wales, said: “Huge thanks to DLL for their amazing support. This event was amazing in 2023. So many families had a great time. I know how much this helps families going through homelessness. Benefiting the mental health and wellbeing of children. Having a chance to get away for a few hours and play in such a great place. Having a local company support our work means do much. We can’t thank Jamie and his team enough. I know there will be so many smiling faces there!”
Jamie Groves, DLL Managing Director said “Homelessness is at all-time high across Wales, and this has a huge effect on children’s lives, not only their schooling but also their opportunities for play, fun and sport. We have offered up to 200 tickets for SC2’s Waterpark to be distributed to homeless families so that they can come enjoy a fun-filled evening with us, and make some memories with their families! During times of hardship, days like this are essential to make memories together so we’re pleased to be offering 200 free tickets, and we hope to work together in the future as well. SC2 and DLL are here for the whole community and we want as many people as possible to experience the fun!”
