Ibiza-themed parties are back for the Summer at Beach Hut Nova, with live entertainment delighting crowds at North Wales’ best beer garden.
DLL (Denbighshire Leisure Ltd) is thrilled to announce that they will be hosting another two Ibiza-themed parties at Beach Hut Nova, following a hugely successful first party of the season last month.
Festival style dancers, delicious cocktails, Ibiza style DJ, ice-cream factory and delicious drink offers, have been confirmed for Saturday, 20th July, firmly placing Beach Hut Nova, as the place for staycation celebrations this Summer.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director of DLL, said: “Beach Hut, Nova is the perfect location to celebrate Summer, we have loads of freebies for the whole family to enjoy the event, as well as our delicious menu and famous cocktails. You don’t need to go abroad to get that Ibiza vibe, we have got it sorted for you! Nova Prestatyn is now famous for our Ibiza parties and we can’t wait to welcome you, Let’s make this Summer one to remember!”
This event will be ticketed to ensure the best possible experience for party-goers. Tickets priced £5 per person are available from RhylPavilion.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01745 330000. Table reservations can also be booked online.
SC2 waterpark update
Over the last few weeks, we have received a number of enquiries around the timescale for reopening our SC2 waterpark in Rhyl, and in response would like to share the current position with everyone.
As you are all aware, the waterpark has been closed since the New Year due to storm damage, which affected the roof of the waterpark. This damage was more extensive than we first thought and it is now looking like we will not be able to open the waterpark for the remainder of the season. It is truly heart-breaking to see another one of our flagship destinations closed due to circumstances outside of our control, especially during the summer months when they would usually be full every day.
As a local business, we cannot wait to see our much loved waterpark open once more, and we are doing everything we can to ensure the remedial work moves forward as quickly as possible. However, the widespread roof damage and limited access we have due to other works taking place, means that at the current time the waterpark cannot open to the public.
The outside Splash Pad will have scaffolding on site to complete the roof works, so it would be unsafe to operate the Splash Pad whilst the work is going on. The safety of both our staff and customers is our top priority.
The building remains open, with our Ninja TAG arena and our Adventure Play unaffected by the damage, and those attractions will continue to operate as normal. The damage is contained to above the waterpark, fortunately allowing us to continue running SC2 Ninja TAG sessions, birthday parties and our Adventure Play café with Costa! We have extended our TAG sessions, and want to reassure our customers that later in the year, our famous Christmas grotto and Ninja TAG experience will be going ahead as usual, and we cannot wait to welcome you to it!
We are working very closely with the loss adjusters and specialist surveyors to agree the scope of works, and the position is being reviewed on a weekly basis. We appreciate that everyone would like to be given a firm date for reopening, but due to the scale of the works and the lengthy process involved, this is just not possible at the moment, however we can say we will be unable to reopen the waterpark this Summer.
Most of those involved have been very understanding of our position, and we hope that this statement helps to clarify the difficult circumstances DLL are facing yet again. The last thing we wanted, as a company, was to be closed during our peak season, especially after the past three years of constant disruption to our business caused by various extreme weather incidents. Sadly, we have already seen many unkind and disingenuous comments on social media, and want to remind everyone that we are a local business who employs a very hard working and committed workforce. We are a large local employer, trying our very best to sustain and grow a business during a very difficult economic climate. We are very proud of the fact we offer an exceptional service, and that we have not only survived but grown, while many leisure companies across the UK have suffered badly. So please remember our workforce and their families read comments on social media. Be kind – we are all in this together and we are just as disappointed as our customers that our waterpark is not open this summer. We will continue to provide updates as and when they become available. In the meantime, I would like to thank everyone who has provided messages of support, your loyalty and continued custom to Ninja TAG and SC2 Adventure Play are truly appreciated and are important now more than ever. Denbighshire Leisure Ltd remains fully committed to investing in Rhyl, and delivering top quality facilities. We remain one of the main local businesses still investing to make Rhyl the destination of choice, and we will in true DLL style, come back much stronger.

Hundreds of entries into DLL’s ‘Proud to be Welsh’ t-shirt design competition
Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL)’s ‘proud to be Welsh’ competition received hundreds of entries from children sharing their love of the Welsh culture by designing a poster that would be printed onto DLL fitness instructor t-shirts.
DLL invited young artists to participate in a t-shirt design contest themed around ‘What Makes You Proud to Be Welsh’, aimed at children aged 11 and under.
Over 150 entries were received and due to the high quality of the entries, three winners were picked to receive Ninja TAG tickets at SC2 Rhyl.
Daisy from Ysgol Dewi Sant drew the winning design and her poster was printed and worn by DLL fitness instructor t-shirts across all of their fitness sites. Emma from Ysgol Caer Drewyn and Darcie from Ysgol Bryn Clwyd were also picked as winners and will receive two Ninja TAG tickets each.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director at DLL said: “As a Welsh business it’s important to us to celebrate our Welsh culture and this year it’s been a delight to see all the amazing entries for this competition. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who competed in our poster design competition of ‘What makes you proud to be Welsh’. The response has been amazing and we’ve had over 150 entries from across all of Denbighshire. It was so hard to choose just one winner, so we have awarded a 2nd prize and a 3rd prize who have also won 2 Ninja TAG tickets each, we have contacted these individuals and schools directly. Once again, I want to say a huge congratulations to everyone for competing and for drawing such high quality posters. #weareDLL, #weareproudtobewelsh”

Denbighshire Leisure Ltd (DLL) Celebrates Global Intergenerational Week with array of art initiatives
DLL’s Community Arts team has designed a range of arts projects to promote and celebrate Global Intergenerational Week (GIW) from 24th to 30th April.
2024 is the fourth year of GIW, the annual worldwide campaign which encourages people of all ages to embrace intergenerational practices and relationships. The campaign looks to bring people together to form important and lasting connections and friendships, and to enjoy projects with benefits such as improvements in wellbeing, whilst also being educational and fun.
The programme designed by the Community Arts Service will include pupils from Ysgol Borthyn, Ruthin joining the regular Lost in Art Group between 1-3pm at Ruthin Craft Centre to enjoy an afternoon of making. Lost in Art is a project aimed at people living with dementia, along with their family members and carers, and aims to use visual arts to address issues such as social isolation.
Paned a Chân, the weekly Welsh Language singing for wellbeing community group at Llanrhaeadr village has been invited to join pupils from Ysgol Bro Cinmeirch primary school on Tuesday, 30th April (10.30am-11.30am) for a fun intergenerational singing session to celebrate GIW in partnership with Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias Music Centre.
In addition to GIW, the team continues to work on a range of ongoing projects, such as supporting DCC Housing in engaging with their citizens around the county via creative interventions; supporting South Denbighshire Community Partnership to run creative art groups at Canolfan Ni in Corwen and Canolfan Pengwern in Llangollen and working with housing associations to support creative activity in extra care facilities such as Gorwel Newydd (Clwyd Alyn), Awel y Dyffryn and LLys Awelon (Grwp Cynefin). The team also run Story Pals an intergenerational creative friendship project between different primary schools and care homes and community hospitals in Denbighshire and regularly work in partnership with third sector organisations such as Kim Inspire and Vale of Clwyd Mind to organise all sorts of different creative workshops for people living with mental health challenges in Prestatyn, Rhyl, Corwen and Llangollen.
DLL will also be lighting up buildings in Rhyl in pink in support of GIW.
Jamie Groves, Managing Director of DLL said “DLL are delighted to support Global Intergenerational Week through these inventive and inspiring arts initiatives. As always our Community Arts Team have worked exceptionally hard to bring together a range of motivational, educational and enjoyable projects for people of all ages across Denbighshire to enjoy. It’s important to remember that the work of the DLL Community Arts Service is not just limited to GIW, however, and they are busy delivering many similar initiatives on a regular basis, which see positive benefits for many residents across the county.”
