Thousands of locals and visitors celebrated the sun with DLL last week, as summer finally arrived with a week of sizzling weather.

For once temperatures smiled on the school holiday, and DLL opened its doors to welcome local residents and visitors from across the UK.

SC2’s Splash Pad opened for the summer season over the Bank Holiday weekend, and with temperatures soaring sessions throughout the week were a sell out!  The popular splash area provided the perfect place to cool off, let the little ones burn off some energy while the adults kicked back and relaxed. Meanwhile the indoor Waterpark was also booming, with thousands loving the flumes and slides and enjoying the water!

DLL’s newly opened Beach Shack at Nova brought a nostalgic element of traditional beach fun to Prestatyn with its delicious range of Mario’s ice cream, Costa coffee and beach gifts.  With everything you need for a day at the beach, the Beach Shack proved to be another DLL sell out!

The Active Communities team also had fun in the sun last week, delivering a range of outdoor community events across the county.  A beach event in Rhyl was attended by lots of children and families who spent a beautiful sunny afternoon enjoying themselves taking part in beach games. The team also joined with partners (eg DCC Youth Services, DCC Play, Community Groups) to attend three community family sessions in Corwen, Ruthin and Denbigh, where they helped deliver outdoor activities eg cricket, football, tennis and cycling.

DLL’s Beach Hut restaurant and 1891’s Terrace, both renowned for their stunning beachfront locations and unbeatable views of the North Wales coast, were delighted to welcome customers looking for light bites, takeaway and delicious dining.  Many customers relaxed and enjoyed the sunny weather or watched the sunset with a long cool drink.  With a new Spritz menu on offer and a refreshed cocktail menu, Beach Hut’s stunning cocktail bar, Mojitos, opened for its first weekend of the year, and as always proved to be the ideal location to sample a fabulous range of cocktails and mocktails, featuring all the classics.
