A feast of free entertainment confirmed for Rhyl’s Christmas Light Switch On, including 8ft Glowbot and firework display.

This year’s panto stars Jake Canuso, best known as the Spanish Waiter on ITV series Benidorm, and Richard Hawley, best known for his role as Johnny Connor in ITV’s Coronation Street, will be switching on the town’s Christmas lights on the High Street in Rhyl on Saturday 26th November between 1pm and 4pm.

Entertaining crowds and families will be an 8ft Glowbot, costumed cast members from this year’s Christmas panto production of Aladdin and balloon modelling before a short firework display to end the afternoon with a bang.

Also on stage entertaining the crowd between 1pm-4pm will be Britain’s Got Talent finalist Gruffydd Wyn, sublime mezzo soprano Sioned Terry, the captivating The Royal Serenity, talented Matty Roberts and popular band Chasing Shadows playing an acoustic set. With a variety of acts, both on stage and off stage, there’s something for everyone at this year’s Christmas Light Switch On.

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be able to put on a free afternoon of entertainment for Rhyl, particularly given the present economic pressures, it’s more important than ever to come together as a community and enjoy free events like this. We’ll also have our annual Christmas pops concert on Sunday 27th November, both events free to attend and in partnership with Rhyl Town Council.”

Rhyl mayor Cllr Diane King said: “Rhyl’s Christmas lights event promises to be a blaze of talent. From the cobbles of Corrie to our high street, the event is packed with panto, TV stars, and outstanding local musicians. The festive lights switch-on is one of the highlights in Rhyl’s calendar and promises a wonderful few hours of glitz and glamour. The town council is glad to partner with Denbighshire Leisure Ltd to stage the event and kick-start the festive season.”
